"EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" - Official Teaser Trailer - In Theaters Worldwide February 27
映画『EPiC：エルヴィス・プレスリー・イン・コンサート』の トレイラー映像が公開
バズ・ラーマンが手掛ける エルヴィス・プレスリーの映画 『EPiC：エルヴィス・プレスリー・イン・コンサート』の 最初のトレイラー映像が
公開された。 来年公開予定の映画 『EPiC：エルヴィス・プレスリー・イン・コンサート』は 長らく失われていた映像に加え、
1972年公開の映画 『エルビス・オン・ツアー 』の 16mmフィルム、 そしてグレイスランド・アーカイブの 8mmフィルムが使われている。
トレイラー映像は リヒャルト・シュトラウスの “Also sprach Zarathustra” から始まり、 舞台袖で エルヴィス・プレスリーが指輪を回し、
足を踏み鳴らす映像が 使われている。 「1969年、エルヴィス・プレスリーは 伝説的なラスベガスでの 連続公演を始める形で ステージに復帰した。
40年間にわたって 所在不明の映像の噂があり、 そして、それが見つかった」
エルヴィス・プレスリーは 次のように語っている。 「これまで多くのことが書かれ、 多くのことが語られてきたが、
私の側から語られたことは 一度もなかった」 その後、トレイラーは “The Battle Hymn Of The Republic” の音源が続いている。
本作は 今年9月にトロント国際映画祭で 初上映され、 91回目の誕生日となる 2026年1月8日に 自宅だったグレイスランドで
先行上映が行われる。 本作は アメリカで2026年2月20日に IMAX上映された後、 2月27日に一般公開される。
バズ・ラーマン監督は 2022年に公開された伝記映画『エルヴィス』で 使用することを念頭に、 『エルヴィス・オン・ツアー』と
『エルヴィス・オン・ステージ』の 未公開映像を探していた。 その中で、 カンザス州の塩鉱山にある ワーナー・ブラザースの
フィルム保管庫で、 未公開インタビューや、 1957年にハワイで ゴールド・ジャケットを着て行われた エルヴィス・プレスリーの
象徴的なパフォーマンス、 そして 両作品のアウトテイクを含む 68箱の35mmと8mmの映像を 発見することとなった。
映像には音声がなかったため、 バズ・ラーマン監督のチームは それを修復して、 既存の音源と同期させた。 その過程で、
エルヴィス・プレスリーが 自身の人生について語る 45分間の音声も発見された。
今年1月、バズ・ラーマン監督は『デッドライン』に 次のように語っている。 「ドキュメンタリーやコンサート・フィルムと 呼ぶ つもりはない。
私たちの目的は エルヴィスの作品に新たな 息吹を吹き込むことなんだ。 エルヴィスのパフォーマーとしての 偉大さにふさわしい作品を
スクリーンに映し出すと同時に、 彼の人間性や内面を より深く掘り下げたかった」と。
バズ・ラーマン監督は オースティン・バトラーがエルヴィス・プレスリーを、 トム・ハンクスが トム・パーカー大佐を演じた
伝記映画『エルヴィス』を 手掛けている。

2月27日から 一般公開されるそうです。

Baz Luhrmann’s "EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" Graceland Premiere Screenings Graceland will host the first advanced U.S. screenings of Baz Luhrmann’s "EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" on Thursday, January 8, 2026, a perfect way to celebrate the birthday of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. 久しぶりに元気な姿を見せた ジェームス・バートン

ジェームス・バートンは1939年８月31日生まれですから、 現在86才です。 YouTubeを検索すれば、 沢山の J・バートンの映像が 見られますが、
その中でも一番古いのが 1957年に公開された映画 "Carnival Rock" で、 ボブ・ルーマンや デビッド・ヒューストンの バックで演奏しています。
この時のバートンは何と17才!!

ボブ・ルーマンの映像を見ていたら、下記の Town Hall Partyの映像で、 MCが
「ジャパン・ツアーから帰ってきたばかりの ボブ・ルーマン」と紹介しています。
ボブ・ルーマンが1959年の夏に来日してたなんて 知りませんでした。 調べましたら、 平尾昌章、 小坂一也、 沢村みつ子等と
共演したようですが、 写真は 見つかりませんでした。

"Variety" によれば、"EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" の一般公開は 来年２月末 (?!) Weiss previewed “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert,” a documentary culled from approximately 60 boxes of never-before-seen footage from Elvis concerts between 1970 and 1972. Luhrmann traveled to Wellington to work with Peter Jackson on restoration, syncing lost audio from work prints. The documentary features approximately 40 minutes of previously unheard Elvis dialogue. “Baz committed himself to having Elvis narrate the film. So it really is Elvis singing and telling his own stories,” Weiss said. The Imax-finished film releases worldwide through Universal Pictures and Neon in late February. |

パット・ブーン (Pat Boone)
'50年代後半から'60年代前半にかけて、 エルヴィスのライバルと言えば パット・ブーンでした。
1965-6年頃、 日本のTVで、 エルヴィスのデビュー映画 「やさしく愛して」が初放映されたのと 丁度同じ頃に
パット・ブーンの初主演映画 「バーナディン」(Bernardine) も放映されて、 見たのを覚えています。
この映画の中で歌われたのが パット・ブーンの大ヒット曲 「砂に書いたラブレター」 (Love Letters in the Sand) でした。
"Ozark Jubilee" の中で、ブレンダ・リーが "Tutti Frutti" を歌った時、 "Tutti Frutti" はパット・ブーンのヒット曲だと 紹介されます。
黒人のロックン・ロール曲を カバーした白人シンガーは エルヴィスより パット・ブーンの方が先でした。
パット・ブーンは 1957年から1960年にかけて "The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom" という30分の TV番組を持っていました。
これの映像も いくつか残っているようです。 中でも 「ジェリコの戦い」 (Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho) は素晴らしい。

"Ozark Jubilee" の中でレッド・フォーリーが パット・ブーンの娘を 紹介する場面があり、 デビー・ブーンではないかと
調べたのですが、 年齢が合いませんでした。 今の人たちは デビー・ブーンの父親が パット・ブーンだと 知らないでしょうね。

YouTubeを検索していたら、50年代に人気のあった 全米ネットのカントリー音楽番組 "Ozark Jubilee" の映像がかなり アップされてるのに
気付きました。そこで、 The Foggy River Boys のメンバーとして "Ozark Jubilee" に出演していた チャーリー・ホッジの映像を探すと、
たくさん出てきました。 チャーリーは、1955年11月に リード・シンガーとして The Foggy River Boys に加入したようです。
1957年に The Marksmen と名前を変えますが、 チャーリーが陸軍に入隊する日まで 番組の準レギュラーとして 出演したようです。
1981年、ロッテルダムのFC大会で "His Hand In Mine" を歌うチャーリー・ホッジ。 素晴らしい歌唱です。
チャーリー・ホッジは、番組MCのレッド・フォーリーの娘、 シャーリーと結婚していた パット・ブーンとも 懇意でした。
エルヴィスがこの "Ozark Jubilee" に出てないのが 不思議なぐらい、 ほとんどの有名な カントリー歌手たちが 出演しています。
そこで、 エルヴィスと関係がありそうな曲を ピック・アップしてみました。
"Ozark Jubilee" はミズーリ州スプリングフィールドから 放送されていました。 そこで、 スプリングフィールド出身の
ジョン・ウィルキンソンも かなり影響を受けたのじゃないかと 想像します。

映画 "EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" の配給会社が、 アメリカ国内は 「ネオン (Neon)」に、 アメリカ以外の全世界は 「ユニバーサル・ピクチャーズ」 に決まりました。 映画は 2026年に公開されます。

Baz Luhrmann’s ‘EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert’ Acquired by Neon and Universal Pictures Content Group (Variety)
Baz Luhrmann’s “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” has been acquired by Neon and Universal Pictures for domestic and international rights, respectively.
Neon will release the film theatrically in the U.S., and Universal Pictures International will release the film internationally in 2026.
From Sony Music Vision, Bazmark and Authentic Studios, the film debuted in the official selection of the Toronto International Film Festival.
“EPiC” utilizes a wealth of never-before-seen footage including Presley’s Vegas residency in the 1970s, rare 16mm footage from “Elvis on Tour”
and 8mm from the Graceland archive. There are also recordings of Elvis telling “his side of the story” rediscovered during Luhrmann’s research
for his 2022 film “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Luhrmann said, “From the first day my editor, Jonathan Redmond, and I encountered this rare and never-before-seen footage of Elvis
almost 8 years ago, it has been our mission that Elvis should finally fulfil his unrealised dream to tour around the world.” He added,
“Along with our incredible partners at Authentic Studios and Sony Music Vision, we created an experience that is not just a documentary
and not just a concert film; it’s ‘EPiC.’ Now, I could not be more thrilled that our passion is matched by Neon and Universal,
who will ensure this film will be seen from local cinemas in small towns, to the biggest screens in the biggest cities in the world.
I personally can’t wait to TCB (Elvis’s motto: ‘taking care of business’) and take this show on the road.”
