故エルヴィス・プレスリーの伝記映画、 早くも公開日が決定 　先日、主役が発表されたばかりのバズ・ラーマン監督による 故エルヴィス・プレスリーの 伝記映画の全米公開日が 2021年10月1日に 決定した。 　主役のエルヴィス役を演じるのは、クエンティン・タランティーノ監督の新作 『ワンス・アポン・ア・タイム・イン・ハリウッド』 にも出演している、 27歳の米俳優オースティン・ブラウンで、 ワーナー・ブラザースは 「プレスリーが有吊になり、 空前のスターダムを得るまでの 20年以上に及ぶ 二人 (エルヴィス・プレスリーと マネージャーのパーカー大佐) の複雑な力関係が、 アメリカにおける 文化的な状況の変化や 純真さを喪失していく 様を背景に描かれる《 と物語について説明している。 　映画の正式タイトルは発表されていないが、 プレスリーのマネージャー、 パーカー大佐ことトム・パーカー役には トム・ハンクスが キャスティングされている。 脚本は、 『華麗なるギャツビー』や 『ムーラン・ルージュ』でも タッグを組んだ クレイグ・ピアースと ラーマン監督が担当する。

"ELVIS, Live 1969" Promo Video 転換点となった1969年のラスヴェガス公演の様子を収めた 50周年記念ボックス・セット 『Live 1969』が発売！ 　エルヴィス・プレスリーにとって革新的であった ラスヴェガス / インターナショナル・ホテル公演の 50周年を記念して、 CD11枚組の豪華ボックス・セット 『Live 1969』が 2019年8月9日に発売される （輸入盤のみ）。 8年ぶりに ステージへ復帰を果たした エルヴィスの1969年の ラスヴェガス滞在公演は 57回のショーが ソールド・アウトとなり、 全米シングル・チャート1位を獲得し 代表曲となったヒット曲 『サスピシャス･マインド』が 初めてライヴで歌われた (同曲は8月26日に発売50周年を迎える)。 エルヴィスの転換点となった これらの公演では “キング・オブ・ロックンロール” エルヴィスのもとに、 ジ・インペリアルズと ザ・スウィート・インスピレーションズの 2つのヴォーカル・グループ、 フル編成のオーケストラ、 そしてのちに TCBバンドとして知られるようになった バンドがバックを務めている。 　 『Live 1969』は 活力に満ち溢れていた エルヴィスの 決定版コレクションと言える内容で、 1969年8月に ラスヴェガスのインターナショナル・ホテルで行った 11回の公演が 史上初めて完全収録される。 これらの公演のうち4回 （8/21ミッドナイト・ショー、 8/22ミッドナイト・ショー、 8/24ミッドナイト・ショー、 8/25ディナー・ショー）は 今回が初めての 完全版リリースとなり、 うち2回 (8/22ミッドナイト・ショー、 8/25ディナー・ショー) は 50年の間 多くの音源が未発表として 今に至っていたもの。 また8/23ディナー・ショーは 今年アナログ・リリースで 初めて日の目を見た貴重な音源。 パッケージにはレアな写真、 当時のグッズに加え、 ケン・シャープが エルヴィス、 トム・パーカー大佐、 ジェリー・シリング、 ジェームス・バートン、 シシー・ヒューストン、 テリー・ブラックウッド、 ジョージ・クライン、 ファッツ・ドミノ等との 歴史的なインタビューから キュレーションを行った 口述歴史を収録した 52ページのブックレットが 封入される。 　エルヴィスのインターナショナル・ホテルでの滞在公演は、 1968年に NBCテレビで放映され 大成功を収めた『ELVIS』 （通称『’68カムバック・スペシャル』） に続くものだった。 エルヴィスは29夜にわたって 合計57回の ソールド・アウトとなった パフォーマンスを行った。 インターナショナル・ホテルは 40人編成のオーケストラに 十分な大きさのステージや、 キャパシティ2,000席 (各夜200席が追加されたが) という、 当時ラスヴェガス最大だった 自慢のショウルームを擁していた。 公演はファンからも 評論家たちからも 受け入れられ、 輝かしい成功を収めた。 　なお、ソニー・ミュージックジャパンインターナショナルから出荷される商品（輸入盤）には 特典として、 英文ライナーの翻訳を 掲載した冊子が封入される。 　さらに、2019年8月9日には特別なLP2枚組 『Live at the International Hotel, Las Vegas, NV August 26, 1969』 も発売される （輸入盤のみ）。 このアナログ盤は エルヴィスが8月26日に行った ミッドナイト・ショウの公演を 完全収録したもので、 音源には ブルース色を帯びた ロックンロール、 美しいバラード、 そして 『イン･ザ･ゲットー』と 『サスピシャス･マインド』という、 当時は出来立てだった ヒット･シングル 2曲が含まれている。 他にもエルヴィスが ジョークを飛ばしたり、 自身のキャリアについて 深く掘り下げて語るなど、 非常にプライベートな 男の心の内側を洞察するという レアな音源も収録されている。 また、 『Live 1969』に加え、 『American Sound 1969』も2019年8月23日に配信リリースされる。 同コレクションには エルヴィスが1969年に アメリカン･サウンド･スタジオで行い、 同年発売された 『エルヴィス･イン･メンフィス (From Elvis in Memphis)』が 結実したセッションから、 90曲以上のレアおよび 未発表音源が収録されている。 エルヴィスの 吊盤の誉れ高いアルバム 『エルヴィス･イン･メンフィス』からは、 象徴的なヒット曲 『イン･ザ･ゲットー』が生まれている。 　1969年からの他のシングルには 『ドント・クライ・ダディ』 『サスピシャス･マインド』 『想い出のバラ』 などがあり、 それぞれが 100万枚以上を売り上げた。 『サスピシャス･マインド』は エルヴィスにとって、 ビルボードHOT100で NO.1を獲得した 18枚目にして 最後のシングルとなり、 彼の晩年のキャリア復活の 重要な成功のひとつとなった。 『アメリカン･サウンド1969』には、 これら往年の吊曲の 別ヴァージョンなどが 収録されている。

"Tonight's All Right For Love" "Tonight Is So Right For Love" 　昔々、 "G.I. Blues" のLPレコード、 日本盤は "Tonight's All Right For Love" が、 アメリカ盤は "Tonight Is So Right For Love" と、 別の曲が 収められていると知り、 アメリカの輸入盤を 買い求めたものですが、 これは原曲の 著作権が 要因だったのです。 　アメリカなどの英語圏で公開された版に使われた "Tonight Is So Right For Love" は 原曲がオッフェンバックの "ホフマンの舟歌" で、 日本や ヨーロッパ諸国で使われた "Tonight's All Right For Love" は 原曲がヨハン・シュトラウスの "ウィーンの森の物語" です。 　ちょっと調べましたら、 日本盤の "G.I. Blues" のLPは全てが "Tonight's All Right For Love" 入りで、 CDの時代になって、 "Tonight Is So Right For Love" に変わりました。 日本で "Tonight Is So Right For Love" が初めて発売されたのは、 1972年発売の キャムデン盤 "Burning Love And Hits from His Movies" です。 アメリカで "Tonight's All Right For Love" が初めて発売されたのは、 1974年発売の "Elvis, A Legendary Performer, Vol.1" です。 　日本で発売されたビデオ・DVDや、 テレビで放映された "G.I. Blues" は、 全てが "Tonight Is So Right For Love" となってます。 ですから、 上のフランス語の字幕が入った "Tonight's All Right For Love" は とても貴重なものです。 よく見れば、 歌の部分だけでなく、 前のお芝居の部分も含めて ワン・シーン全てが 別録りになってます。

A healthy mix of young stars (Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes, Adam Lambert and Kelsea Ballerini) and established names (Blake Shelton, John Fogerty, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, Josh Groban, Darius Rucker, Pistol Annies, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town and Mac Davis) recreated the look and feel of the famed Elvis "'68 Comeback Special." Complete with its gboxing ring without ropesh set on a Universal City soundstage, the special, hosted by Shelton, was taped last October before an invited audience. Ken Ehrlich produced and Don Was served as musical director. With Ehrlich on board as producer for his own AEG Ehrlich Ventures, the longtime Grammy guru leaned on his years of experience to match the right performer with the right song and come up with well-curated collaborations. Speaking to Variety, Ehrlich explains: "I was just listening to John Legend one day and thought, he'd be perfect for "A Little Less Conversation." Keith Urban personally requested Post Malone for a duet on "Baby What You Want Me to Do," a section of the show which recalls the part when Elvis and his band were just casually playing together onstage. When I asked Post Malone about performing it, he said, "Oh, yeah, the Jimmy Reed song." Other highlights from the two-night taping included Shawn Mendes take on "Hound Dog," which prompted a laughing Mike Stoller ( seated in the studio audience ) to utter his famous refrain, "I always preferred Big Mama Thornton," and Adam Lambertfs cover of "Blue Suede Shoes," for which he paid homage to the Carl Perkins-penned original by sporting a pair. Says Lambert: "What was I supposed to wear? Red ones? Elvis defined pop culture in the '50s with his voice, style and swagger. He was one of the first icons I ever listened to, so to take the stage during this anniversary tribute feels like a big honor." Aside from the in-the-round presentation, there are several other iconic set pieces, including Jennifer Lopez singing "Heartbreak Hotel" against the glimmering neon lights spelling out ELVIS, along with Yolanda Adams and Carrie Underwood's gospel tribute and Josh Groban's operatic "It's Now or Never." The special will also feature interviews with Priscilla Presley and original '68 special director Steve Binder, as well as an appearance from Lisa Marie Presley. In addition, Sony Music Entertainmentfs RCA/Legacy Recordings will release "The Best of the '68 Comeback Special" on February 15, two days before the airing of "Elvis All-Star Tribute." The new album is, in large part, a condensed version of a 7-disc boxed set released in November that included all of the recordings taped for the show. The February album will 15 Presley performances from the "stand-up" and "sit-down" shows filmed for the '68 broadcast, plus three original studio recordings representing songs that appear in the new special. It also offers one intriguing bonus not included in the recent boxed set: a new version of the closing number, "If I Can Dream," from the special, featuring Elvis' original vocals alongside performances by Underwood, Mendes, Rucker, Shelton and Post Malone.
