KOHOKU Wild birds center
Kohoku Wild Bird Center was established on Nov. 18, 1988, as a facility where people learn about ecology of many water birds in Lake Biwa. The center is expected to encourage people's interest in wild birds and to promote conservation of waterfowl.

Construction cost and Management
Shiga Prefecture invested approximately 1 million U. S. dollars in the construction of the Kohoku Wild birds Center. Shiga Prefecture entrusts its management to Kohoku town.

Second floor has the observation space and you can watch water birds closely, using telescopes. In exhibition space, there are many stuffed birds and you can learn about "waterfowl of Lake Biwa" through photographs and panels(sorry, Japanese only).
