Charity Single Ernst has confirmed that BMG, together with Red Cross, are releasing a CD, with 3 songs. The money for the sale is going 100% to the victims and their relatives. The single will be sold all over the world. The 3 songs are: If I Can Dream, America The Beautiful and Amazing Grace. We at Records & Books will donate the profit, from our sale to the same account. Henrik Knudsen - Elvis Unlimited I talked to Ernst Jorgensen today, and he told me that the Elvis "tribute" CD single for the victims of the terrorist attack on September 11th is now a reality. It will consist of the following songs: "If I Can Dream," "America The Beautiful" and "Amazing Grace" The proceeds from this single will go to the Red Cross. The front cover will be the same as the AMAZING GRACE release: a photo from "Love Me Tender", because BMG wanted to have an unglamorous cover. The Red Cross logo will also be on the frontcover. The CD single should be out within a week, or two weeks at the latest. Let's all support this wonderful initiative, and order this single now! Arjan Deelen

New Elvis single helps terror victims BMG/RCA is planning to release a CD single with 3 tracks; American Trilogy, America The Beautiful and Amazing Grace. Michael Omansky informed me that "We are working on the possibility of a CD single, but as discussed it has not been finalized." (Paul Dowling) It has already been mentioned on several websites that BMG will release this tribute single, but that info is not correct. BMG 'When it rains, it really pours', Elvis once sang, and much the same can be said about all the bad news lately. Several insiders at BMG have told me that the company has not been doing very well the last couple of years. It has therefore been decided recently by management at BMG in Germany recently that they have to make some drastic cut-backs. BMG is now in the process of firing 25% of its employees worldwide. They have also closed their studios in the U.S.A. The above will almost certainly have consequences for the Elvis releases next year, and possibly also for the FTD releases, but at the moment it's too soon to tell. One thing that is for sure that the 2 CD-set with outtakes that was mentioned recently will NOT happen. BMG have lost a lot of very competent people, including some very good remastering engineers and people. It's not even ruled out that there will be more cut-backs further down the road. Arjan Deelen
