エルヴィス・プレスリーの 33年ぶりの新録音作品 『ViVA エルヴィス』、 日本では 12月8日に発売

　言わずと知れたロックンロールのキング、 エルヴィス・プレスリー。 その生誕75周年となる今年、 エルヴィスの 33年ぶりの新作音作品とされる アルバム『ViVA エルヴィス』の リリースが決定しました。 日本では 12月8日に発売されます。

　本作『ViVA エルヴィス』は、 「もしも今の時代に、 エルヴィスが彼の持ち歌を 初めて歌うとしたら、 どんな感じになっていただろう？」 というアイディアのもと、 シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユによる 『Viva ELVIS』の音楽監督 エリック・ヴァン・トルノーが アルバムのプロデューサー 兼アレンジャーを担当。 エルヴィスの音楽と 未来の世代のファンとをつなぐ 架け橋を築きながら、 エルヴィスの魂と精神を 呼び覚まそうとした 企画になっています。

　エリックは、エルヴィスが残した無数のアルバム、 フィルム、 ライヴ録音、 インタビュー、 ホームレコーディングを、 3,000時間以上を費やして 聴き直し、 見直し、 そのプロセスを通じて エルヴィスの曲を 17,000以上 サンプリングしたとのこと。 数万もの エルヴィスの声の サンプリングに 取り組みながら、 時には キーやテンポといった 細部を変えながら、 いくつかのシークエンスや サウンドを 同じ一つの曲に織り込み、 クラシックなレコーディングに ラガ、 パンク、 あるいは ヒップホップなどの 要素を取り込むなど、 さまざまな工夫が 施されているようです。 どの曲においても 最終的には オリジナル録音が持つ エッセンスに 敬意を表する形に 仕上がっているとのこと。

　2010年に蘇るエルヴィスの歌声に注目です。

It consists of two main sections; the recording sessions on January 16, 1958 and song scenes from the filming of the movie (including behind-the scenes shots). The images are classic and well-known shots with the majority being previous unpublished and taken by the original still photographers on the set (no freeze-frames).

The accompanying CD consists of the masters and the well-known alternative masters (no unreleased session reels have been found). As always, the music has been re-mastered.

　レガシー・エディションは CD2枚組。 ディスク１には 1970年2月に行なわれた ラスヴェガス・ インターナショナル・ホテルでの コンサートの模様を収めた 『On Stage』 （当時の邦題は 『エルヴィス・オン・ステージVol.2』）が、 ディスク２には 先述のコンサートに先駆け、 1969年8月に 同ホテルで行なわれた コンサートの模様を収めた 『Elvis In Person』 （当時の邦題は 『エルヴィス・オン・ステージVol.3』）が、 それぞれ ボーナス・ライヴ音源を 追加して収録。 さらに 『On Stage』には リハーサル音源も １曲収められます。

　発売は 米国盤が 3月23日に、 国内盤 （SICP-2665〜6　 税込3,990円 / 英文ライナー翻訳、 日本盤解説書、 歌詞、対訳付 / 完全生産限定盤）が 4月21日に それぞれ予定。 エルヴィスの迫力が ストレートに 伝わってくる本作、 新たな仕様でも お楽しみください！
